Heckling Hare: Second Attempt

Here is my second attempt at drawing the infamous frame from "Heckling Hare," laid out in John K.'s Blog. This time, I could tell before I finished inking it that I was off on some key details.
Most noticeable of the problems was the length and angle of the neck -- a frustrating development since I thought I'd measured my proportions carefully. The right (my right, Bugs's left) side of his face is also much too scrunched, so I didn't have room to draw the details properly. Overall, his head is too narrow. Check the comparison below to see where I went wrong.

Still, I think this attempt is better than the last one. I was able to line up more than one feature when I did the overlay in Photoshop. Next time, I'll do my construction in a scannable color (instead of non-photo blue) so I can show my drawing process.

A few weeks ago, John K. posted a lesson in this blog entry on how to draw bugs bunny using solid construction. Below is my attempt:

At first glance, I thought it looked pretty good, but as you can see from the comparison below, it's really quite off. Parts of it actually make me wonder what I was thinking -- his shoulder, for example, looks nothing like the original, even when you look at it without the overlay. I didn't expect the whiskers to look right because I just threw them in without much thought. I'll be giving this another shot in the not-too-distant future.

Sketchbook Pages - Exam Time and Hairy Guy

I drew this sketch of a student while I was proctoring a midterm.The hat guy is a poor caricature of another student from the exam. The caveman is an old character that I invented as a college freshman, but I tried to apply some better fundamentals to his construction. It didn't work too well. The hairy guy has no story... yet!
